Frankfurt’s DAX 40 erased early losses to climb 0.4% to 24,275 points on Thursday, supported by easing political uncertainty in France after the government survived a no-confidence vote.
Despite the gains, investors remain cautious amid renewed trade tensions between the US and China.
Corporate news also shaped market sentiment.
Merck dropped nearly 5% after forecasting weaker-than-expected operating results for the year, despite reaffirming growth prospects following recent restructuring.
In contrast, other German companies saw positive updates: Sartorius raised its full-year sales forecast after a strong Q3, while Flatexdegiro projected higher revenue and profits in 2025.
