Germany’s retail sales dropped 0.3% month-over-month in October 2025, missing market forecasts of a 0.2% growth and reversing a marginally revised 0.3% gain in the previous month.

This marked the fifth monthly decline so far this year, weighed down by a 0.7% fall in non-food sales and a 0.6% decrease in online and mail-order businesses.

In contrast, food sales rose 1.2%.

On an annual basis, retail trade increased 0.9%, following an upwardly revised 0.8% rise in September.
