The HCOB Germany Manufacturing PMI fell to 48.2 in November 2025, down from 49.6 in October and below the preliminary estimate of 48.4, marking the sharpest contraction in the sector since February.
The decline was largely driven by a renewed fall in new orders, which reversed the six gains in eight months seen in October, recording the steepest drop since January amid ongoing customer uncertainty and weaker overseas demand.
Export sales fell for the fourth consecutive month, at the fastest pace of 2025, reflecting softer demand across Asia, Europe, and North America.
Output growth slowed, and employment continued to decline.
On the price front, input costs edged down only marginally, the slowest decline since August 2024, while prices charged fell following a rebound in October.
Looking ahead, firms’ expectations for output over the next year improved slightly from October’s ten-month low but remain below the historical average.
