Canada New Housing Price Index Rises in February

New housing prices in Canada rose 0.3% month-on-month in February 2026, after a 0.4% decline in January, beating forecasts of a 0.3% decrease and marking the first price rise in a year.

The house-only index increased 0.3%, rebounding from the previous month’s 0.6% fall.

Meanwhile, the land-only component also rose 0.3%, following a flat reading in January.

On an annual basis, new housing prices declined 2.1%, compared with a 2.3% drop previously.

The house-only index dropped 0.6%, extending the previous month’s 0.2% fall. Meanwhile, the land-only component was flat, following a 0.1% decrease in December. On an annual basis, new housing prices declined 2.3%, compared with a 2.0% drop previously.

New housing prices in Canada fell by 0.2% month-on-month in December 2025, after being flat in the previous month, matching market estimates. The house-only index went down by 0.2%, after rising by 0.1% in November; while the land-only component fell by 0.1%, the same pace as in the month before. Yearly, housing prices slipped by 2% in December, following a 1.9% decline in the prior month.
