Canada New Housing Prices Fall More Than Expected in January

New housing prices in Canada fell 0.4% month-on-month in January 2026, after a 0.2% decline in December and below forecasts of a 0.1% increase.

The house-only index dropped 0.6%, extending the previous month’s 0.2% fall.

Meanwhile, the land-only component was flat, following a 0.1% decrease in December.

On an annual basis, new housing prices declined 2.3%, compared with a 2.0% drop previously.
