São Paulo Monthly Inflation Eases

Consumer prices in São Paulo were broadly unchanged month-on-month in August 2026, following a similar reading in July. Housing costs fell 0.3%, compared with a 0.57% increase in July, while food prices declined 0.18%, following a 0.69% drop in the previous month. Transportation costs fell 0.43%, after a 0.13% decline in July, while education prices were little changed, edging down 0.06% compared with a 0.3% increase in July. Meanwhile, personal expenses rebounded, rising 1.34% after falling 0.07% in July. Health costs increased 0.24%, accelerating from a 0.1% rise in the previous month, while clothing prices rose 0.32%, following a 0.58% increase in July.

Consumer prices in São Paulo were almost flat month-on-month in July 2026, after increasing by 0.18% in the preceding month. Price growth eased for health (0.10% vs 0.31% in June), while prices fell for food (-0.69% vs 0.13%); transportation (-0.13% vs 0.10%) and personal expenses (-0.07% vs -0.03%). Conversely, faster increases were seen for clothing (0.58% vs 0.31%); housign (0.57% vs 0.34%) and education (0.30% vs 0.11%).

Consumer prices in São Paulo rose 0.18% month-on-month in June 2026, easing from a 0.45% increase in May. Inflation moderated for housing (0.34% vs. 0.53%) and food (0.13% vs. 1.14%), while personal expenses fell 0.03%, reversing from a 0.31% increase in the previous month. In contrast, transport (0.10% vs. -0.65%) and education (0.11% vs. -0.03%) costs rebounded, and price pressures strengthened for health (0.31% vs. 0.05%) and clothing (0.31% vs. 0.18%).
