São Paulo Monthly Inflation at 6-Month High

Consumer prices in São Paulo rose 0.59% month-over-month in March 2026, the most in six months, compared to 0.25% in February.

Price pressures accelerated for food (1.36% vs 0.42%), transportation (0.87% vs 0.21%) and healthcare (0.37% vs 0.11%) while a slowdown was recorded for housing (0.15% vs 0.38%) and clothing (0.13% vs 0.28%).

Prices were little changed for personal expenses (0.04% vs -0.17%) and education (0.00% vs 0.00%).

Consumer prices in São Paulo rose 0.45% month-over-month in May 2026, following a 0.4% increase in April. Prices rebounded for housing (0.53% vs -0.15%) and increased more for food (1.14% vs 0.81%) and personal expenses (0.31% vs 0.09%). On the other hand, prices decreased for transportation (-0.65% vs 0.85%) and were little changed for health (0.05% vs 1.1%) and education (-0.03% vs 0.01%).

Consumer prices in São Paulo rose 0.40% month-over-month in April 2026, easing from a 6-month high of 0.59% in March. Prices slowed for food (0.81% vs. 1.36%), while housing costs moved into decline (-0.15% vs. +0.15%). Also, prices were little changed for personal expenses (0.0% vs 0.04%) and education (0.01% vs 0.00%). In contrast, transportation cost remained elevated (0.85% vs 0.87%) and prices rose faster for healthcare (1.1% vs 0.37%) and clothing (0.22% vs 0.13%).
