The Brazilian gross domestic product expanded by 2.2% from the previous year during the second quarter of 2025, slowing from the 2.9% expansion in the previous period and loosely aligned with market expectations.
The data reflected the softest growth rate in over three years, indicating an increasing impact of high interest rates from the central bank, among the highest in the world on a real basis, as stubborn inflation continued to dent purchasing power.
The output and generation of utilities contracted by 4% from the previous year, while manufacturing stalled.
Conversely, the agriculture and livestock output surged by 10.1%.
