South Africa Private Credit Rises Further

South Africa’s private sector credit increased by 8.83% year-on-year in January 2026, after an 8.74% rise in the previous month.
This was the highest growth since October 2022.
Meanwhile, the broadly defined M3 measure of money supply rose by 7.44% to ZAR 5,859,771 million in January 2026, following an 8.16% increase in December.
