The South African rand traded around 16.4 per US dollar, close to the highest since July 22, underpinned by higher prices of key precious metal prices such as gold and PGMs.
Signs of diplomatic progress to end the Middle East conflict tempered fears over inflation and interest rates hikes.
The currency slumped to a three-month low against the dollar last month after the South African Reserve Bank unexpectedly kept rates unchanged on July 23, even as it warned of rising inflation risks.
The rand has faced headwinds from elevated oil prices following the outbreak of the Iran conflict, given South Africa's high reliance on energy imports.
However, investors continue to see longer-term support from a stronger economy, healthy public finances, and the SARB's commitment to its 3% inflation target.
Meanwhile, headline and core inflation accelerated to 5.0% and 4.1% in June, respectively, leaving both above the upper limit of the SARB's 3% ±1 percentage point target range.
