European Stocks Extend Losses

Both the STOXX 50 and the STOXX 600 extended losses on Thursday, falling 0.6% and 0.7%, respectively, as a global tech sell-off resumed amid persistent concerns over AI-related disruption and elevated valuations.
ASML Holding (-0.5%) and Siemens (-0.2%) reversed early losses.
Traders were also digesting a fresh round of corporate earnings and monetary policy decisions from the Bank of England and the ECB that left borrowing costs unchanged as expected.
Shell fell 1% after missing profit estimates amid lower crude prices.
BBVA tumbled more than 6% as its results failed to meet investor expectations.
Maersk plunged 4.5 after warning of a decline in earnings in 2026, while Vestas slid 7.8% following a profit miss.
Rheinmetall also dropped 7% after cutting its guidance.
On the upside, BNP Paribas gained 2.7% after raising its outlook for shareholder returns, and ArcelorMittal was up 1% after reporting a stronger-than-expected Q4 profit.
