European stocks closed lower on Thursday amid pessimistic earnings results from a series of the continent's largest companies.
The Eurozone's STOXX 50 fell 0.7% to 5,892 and the pan-European STOXX 600 dropped 0.2% to 607.
SAP plunged 16%, its sharpest single-session drop since 2020, after its fourth-quarter results missed estimates for its cloud revenue, in addition to a warning that cloud backlog growth could decelerate this year.
Also in the tech space, Nokia dropped more than 3% after posting its results, while the poor momentum for AI infrastructure drove Infineon to drop nearly 4%.
In turn, ABB surged 8.5% after delivering strong results.
Also outside the Eurozone, Roche added 2.7% on a 5% earnings growth, even though the surge in the franc dented higher sales growth.
Sanofi was little changed after missing revenue expectations.
