European equity markets were set to open little changed on Wednesday after notching fresh record highs in the previous session, as the recent rally showed signs of losing momentum.
Investors were also digesting US inflation data that came largely in line with expectations and did little to shift the outlook for Federal Reserve policy.
Meanwhile, energy stocks may find support from firmer oil prices, driven by rising tensions in Iran and the prospect of a possible US intervention.
With no major economic data or corporate earnings due in Europe, trading conditions were expected to remain subdued.
In premarket activity, Euro Stoxx 50 and Stoxx 600 futures were hovering around the flatline.
