Euro area consumer confidence was confirmed at -12.4 in January 2026, the highest in nearly a year, up from -13.2 in December.
In the broader European Union, consumer sentiment came in at -11.7 in January, the highest reading since February 2025, marking an improvement from December's -12.5, as consumers felt more positive about the economy, their household finances, and upcoming major purchases.
Despite the slight improvements, confidence in both the euro area and the EU remains below their long-term averages.
