Yearly, housing prices slipped by 2% in December, following a 1.9% decline in the prior month.

Meanwhile, the land price index slipped 0.1%, following a flat reading in October, while the housing-only component edged up 0.1%, rebounding from a 0.6% decline in the previous month.

The data highlight continued softness in the housing market. The land price index held steady, while the housing-only component fell 0.6%. Prices in Ontario declined slightly more than in the previous month (-0.6% vs -0.5%), while prices in Quebec eased to 0.3% from 1.1%.
