The Ibovespa fell nearly 1% to the 187,000 mark on Friday, pressured by pessimistic economic releases from the US.
The US GDP grew much less than expected in the fourth quarter at 1.4%, reflecting less resilience to tariffs and the government shutdown for the world's largest economy.
Additionally, key price gauges tracked by the Federal Reserve were higher than expected, preventing a pullback in rates that impact the Brazilian credit market.
Banking stocks declined, with Itaú down 0.7% and Bradesco shedding 0.8%.
Utilities also traded lower, as Axia lost 1% and Sabesp slipped 0.6%.
