The Ibovespa fell more than 0.5% to hover around 184,500 on Wednesday, pressured by muted results from Santander Brasil.
Santander fell more than 3% after posting profits slightly above expectations but citing a “challenging macroeconomic scenario,” while concerns over asset quality weighed on sentiment.
Itaú slipped nearly 1% despite optimistic earnings guidance, as bank stocks broadly declined, with Banco do Brasil and Bradesco both down 1.3%.
