Brazil’s Ibovespa closed marginally higher at 164,849 on Monday, paring some of the pullback from record highs as selective gains in heavyweight stocks offset earlier pressure tied to global risk aversion.
Petrobras rose 0.5% and utility names firmed, helping stabilize the index after losses in consumer discretionary shares weighed earlier in the session.
Natura fell 3.8%, extending weakness in the sector amid renewed tariff threats from the US, after President Trump warned that major European economies could face trade penalties if they fail to facilitate the sale of Greenland.
Vale edged lower as reports of initial iron ore shipments from Guinea’s Simandou project revived concerns over rising supply and potential market-share dilution.
Meanwhile, the central bank’s Focus survey showed little change in inflation expectations, reinforcing a steady domestic macro backdrop and limiting downside pressure on equities despite a softer global tone.
