The S&P Global Brazil Manufacturing PMI rose to 48.2 in October 2025 from 46.5 in September, signaling a softer contraction and marking six straight months below 50.
Output and new orders fell at slower rates, with some firms reporting gains from restocking, stronger sales efforts, and higher demand for select products.
The decline in production was the mildest in six months, and the drop in sales the weakest since May.
Foreign demand worsened for the third month, mainly from the US.
Job losses accelerated, marking the steepest employment decline in two and a half years, as factories cut costs amid lower orders.
Backlogs fell sharply, showing increased spare capacity.
Input costs rose slightly after September’s rare decline, while output prices dropped for a second month at a milder pace.
