Brazil Current Account Deficit Widens in May

Brazil's current account deficit widened to $2.930 billion in May 2025, from $2.519 billion in the same month last year, and above the expected deficit of $2.8 billion.
The trade surplus in goods narrowed to $6.6 billion, from $7.5 billion a year earlier, as exports fell 0.3% to $30.3 billion, while imports of goods rose 3.5% to $23.7 billion.
At the same time, the deficit in the services account decreased slightly to $4.7 billion from $4.76 billion, as did the primary income deficit, which fell to $5.2 billion from $5.4 billion.
Meanwhile, the secondary income surplus increased to $596 million from $323 million .
