Building Permits in South Korea measure the number of buildings granted construction approval each month under the Building Act, the Housing Act, and the Act on the Improvement of Urban Areas and Residential Environments. The statistics cover permits for new construction, extensions, reconstructions, relocations, major renovations, and changes in building use, and include information on the location, purpose, structure, number of buildings, and gross floor area. The data are compiled by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) using reports submitted by local governments through the Building Administration System (SEUMTER).
