Visitor arrivals to New Zealand rose 9.4% year-on-year to 262,700 in October 2025, driven largely by a surge in visitors from Australia.
Australian arrivals reached 121,100, an increase of 13,500.
Gains were also recorded from China (+1,500), Korea (+1,300), Taiwan (+1,200), Hong Kong (+900), the United States (+800) and Japan (+700).
Overall, arrivals in October 2025 were 93% of the 283,800 recorded in October 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Australians accounted for 47% of total visitors (compared with 43% in October 2019), while the United States contributed 9%, China 7%, the United Kingdom 5%, and India 3%.
The data reflects a strong recovery in travel from neighbouring Australia, coinciding with the Australian school holiday period, as well as rebounds from a range of markets including the United States.
