Italy Consumer Confidence Highest in Six Months

The consumer confidence index in Italy rose to 94.5 in August 2026 from 94.2 in the previous month, falling short of market expectations of 95. The reading was the highest since February 2025, with most components recording gains. The economic climate sub-index increased to 92.3 from 90.9 in July, while the future climate advanced to 90.2 from 89.8, reflecting a more favorable outlook for the broader economy. The current climate edged higher to 97.8 from 97.4, while the personal climate remained unchanged at 95.4.

It marked the highest reading since February 2025, as all main components strengthened, led by a broad-based rise in expectations. The economic climate sub-index increased to 90.9 from 87.6 in June, while the future climate advanced to 89.8 from 87.4, reflecting a more favorable outlook for the broader economy. The personal climate climbed to 95.4 from 94.2, while the current climate edged higher to 97.4 from 96.2.

Italy’s consumer confidence index fell to 92.4 in June 2026 from 93.4 in the previous month, missing market expectations of 94.5. The future climate sub-index edged down to 87.2 from 87.4, while the economic climate showed modest improvement, rising to 87.6 from 86.2 in May. On the other hand, both the personal climate and current climate deteriorated, falling to 94.2 from 96.0 and to 96.2 from 98.0, respectively.
