Chile's Unit of Account, known domestically as the Unidad de Fomento (UF), is a non-circulating, inflation-indexed unit of account used in Chile to index contracts and financial instruments. These include financial obligations such as mortgages and loans, and real estate prices, based on daily inflation rates. Attaching credit to the index ensures the real purchasing power remains constant, protecting long-term contracts from inflation. The Unit is compiled and published by the Central Bank of Chile.
