Exports from Chile fell 1.0 percent year-on-year to USD 6231.8 million in August 2018, after climbing 11.8 percent in the prior month. It was the first decrease in external sales since February 2017, driven by mining products (-13.3 percent vs 10.7 percent in July) such as copper (-13.7 percent); and agricultural goods (-11.2 percent vs 8.1 percent). However, shipments continued to rise solidly for manufactured products (18.5 percent vs 14.1 percent). Exports in Chile averaged 3463.33 USD Million from 1991 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 7760.56 USD Million in December of 2010 and a record low of 644.40 USD Million in November of 1991.

Chile Exports

Chile's economy relies heavily on exports of copper (50 percent of total sales) and the state owned firm CODELCO is the world's largest copper producer in the world. Manufactured products account for 38 percent of total exports and include chemicals and metals, machinery and equipment and processed food. The country also exports forestry and wood products, fresh fruit, salmon and wine. Main export partners are: China (28 percent of total sales), the United States (14 percent), Japan (9 percent), South Korea (6 percent) and Brazil (5 percent). Others include: India, Peru, Spain and the Netherlands.
