Exports from Chile soared 18.6 percent year-on-year to USD 6525 million in March 2018, the highest gain for a March month since 2011 (39.2 percent). Sales rose for mining products (35.1 percent), mostly copper (40.1 percent) and manufactured products (6.8 percent), such as pulp, paper and paper products (19.6 percent); chemicals (13.2 percent) and basic metals (27.9 percent). Meanwhile, shipments of agricultural, forestry and fishing goods fell 3.7 percent. Exports in Chile averaged 3418.78 USD Million from 1991 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 7760.56 USD Million in December of 2010 and a record low of 644.40 USD Million in November of 1991.

Chile Exports

Chile's economy relies heavily on exports of copper (50 percent of total sales) and the state owned firm CODELCO is the world's largest copper producer in the world. Manufactured products account for 38 percent of total exports and include chemicals and metals, machinery and equipment and processed food. The country also exports forestry and wood products, fresh fruit, salmon and wine. Main export partners are: China (28 percent of total sales), the United States (14 percent), Japan (9 percent), South Korea (6 percent) and Brazil (5 percent). Others include: India, Peru, Spain and the Netherlands.
