Canada Weekly Earnings Rise the Most Since 2021

Average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees in Canada rose by 5.8% year-on-year to $1,290.82 in December 2024, the most since March 2021, following a 5.0% year-over-year increase in November, with 17 of the 20 sectors reporting gains.
The largest increases were recorded in mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction (+9.8% to $2,472); information and cultural industries (+9.4% to $1,828); educational services (+6.5% to $1,271) and health care and social assistance (+5.6% to $1,138).
Conversely, earnings decreased in utilities (-2.3% to $2,069); forestry, logging and support (-0.4% to $1,411) and construction (-0.1% to $1,504).
