The FTSE MIB gained 0.4% to close at 52,809 on Monday, supported by broad-based gains across sectors.

Oil major Eni led the index, climbing 3.9% as oil prices advanced amid heightened uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz, despite conflicting claims over whether the waterway remained open.

Tenaris followed with a 1.7% gain, while utility stocks also advanced as higher temperatures increase electricity demand for cooling.

Stellantis added 2.6% on reports of stronger growth in North America, its most important market.

Inwit rose 2.2% after a Milan court suspended TIM's withdrawal from their MSA.

Financial stocks were also higher, with FinecoBank, Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (BMPS) and Mediobanca each gaining more than 1%.

Meanwhile, the defense sector lagged, along with the technology sector after SK Hynix plunged 15% in Seoul amid renewed concerns over excessive valuations of artificial intelligence, with Leonardo (-1.3%), Prysmian (-1.3%) and Avio (-1.2%) leading the declines.

FTSE MIB Starts the Week Lower
The FTSE MIB fell to around 52,500 on Monday, starting the week on a cautious note as renewed military exchanges between the US and Iran dampened risk sentiment. The escalation also pushed oil prices higher, reinforcing inflation concerns. Across the bourse, Stellantis fell more than 1% despite reporting a 10% increase in Q2 shipments, driven by stronger demand in North America as the automaker advanced its turnaround plan. Its peer Ferrari also declined 0.9%. Technology shares also came under pressure, with STMicroelectronics and Prysmian falling 1.4% and 1.5%, respectively, mirroring losses across the global semiconductor sector after South Korea's SK Hynix tumbled a record 15% as investors took profits following its US listing debut and reassessed the outlook for AI-related demand. On the upside, oil major Eni gained more than 2%.
