The FTSE MIB fell to around 52,500 on Monday, starting the week on a cautious note as renewed military exchanges between the US and Iran dampened risk sentiment.
The escalation also pushed oil prices higher, reinforcing inflation concerns.
Across the bourse, Stellantis fell more than 1% despite reporting a 10% increase in Q2 shipments, driven by stronger demand in North America as the automaker advanced its turnaround plan.
Its peer Ferrari also declined 0.9%.
Technology shares also came under pressure, with STMicroelectronics and Prysmian falling 1.4% and 1.5%, respectively, mirroring losses across the global semiconductor sector after South Korea's SK Hynix tumbled a record 15% as investors took profits following its US listing debut and reassessed the outlook for AI-related demand.
On the upside, oil major Eni gained more than 2%.
