The FTSE MIB Index Closes 1.98% Higher

The FTSE MIB Index went up by 907 points or 1.98 percent on Monday to close at 46784 points. The rise was led by STMicroelectronics (9.85%), UniCredit (6.60%) and Infrastrutture Wire (3.02%).

The FTSE MIB jumped 2% to close at 46,808 on Monday, supported by strong earnings. UniCredit surged 6.5% after targeting net profit of about €11 billion in 2026, following a 13.6% rise to €10.6 billion in 2025, above market expectations. Other financials also advanced, with MPS up 2.2% and Unipol gaining 2.4%. STMicroelectronics led the index with a 9.8% rally after expanding its strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services through a multi-year commercial agreement worth “many billions” of dollars to support high-performance computing for cloud and AI data centers. The US group may also take a stake just below 3% via a warrant.

The FTSE MIB rose 1% to around 46,340 on Monday, extending last week’s gains amid a positive global backdrop. Gains were led by UniCredit, which surged nearly 5% after Italy’s second-largest bank raised its profit outlook following stronger-than-expected 2025 earnings. Other key performers included Leonardo (+2.6%), BPER Banca (+1.3%), Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (+1.2%), and Prysmian (+1.0%). Meanwhile, investors awaited crucial US economic data later this week for more clues on the Federal Reserve’s policy outlook. Attention also remained on US-Iran talks, with both sides agreeing to continue negotiations aimed at easing tensions and reducing the risk of military confrontation.
