Italy’s consumer confidence index rose to 93.4 in May 2026 from 90.8 in April, beating market expectations of 90.1 and marking the highest reading in three months.

All main components strengthened, led by a broad-based rebound in expectations.

The economic climate sub-index increased to 86.2 from 82.7 in April, while the future climate rose to 87.2 from 82.5, reflecting improved perceptions of the broader economic outlook.

The personal climate also improved to 96.0 from 93.8, while the current climate edged higher to 98.0 from 96.9.
