Italy’s consumer confidence index fell to 90.8 in April 2026 from 92.6 in March, marking the lowest reading since March 2023.

Household sentiment deteriorated across most main components, except for assessments of the household budget and opinions on saving.

The economic climate sub-index dropped sharply to 82.7 in April from 88.1 in March, reflecting rising concerns over the national economic outlook.

The future climate also edged lower to 82.5 from 85.3, while the personal climate slipped to 93.8 from 94.2.

The current climate eased to 96.9 from 98.0.

The future climate also deteriorated sharply, down to 85.3 from 93.1. The personal climate fell to 94.2 from 96.8, and the current climate dropped to 98.0 from 100.7.

The consumer confidence index in Italy rose to 97.4 in February 2026 from 96.8 in the previous month, slightly exceeding market expectations of 97.2. It marked the highest reading since October 2025, as all components of the index improved except for assessments (judgments and expectations) of the personal economic situation and the opportunity to save in the current climate, alongside slightly worsened unemployment expectations. The personal climate edged up to 96.8 from 96.6 in January, the consumer economic climate jumped to 99.1 from 97.4, the current climate rose to 100.7 from 100.1, and the future climate increased to 93.1 from 92.3.
