Italy’s Construction Output Dips 0.6% in January

Italy’s construction sector contracted 0.6% year-on-year in January 2026, marking its first decline since December 2024 and reversing a downwardly revised 5.0% gain in December.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, output fell 1.3%, the third straight monthly drop.

Over the November–January period, production averaged a modest 0.1% rise compared to the prior quarter.

Italy Construction Output Growth Slows to 10-Month Low
Construction output in Italy rose 3.2% year-on-year in November 2025, easing from an upwardly revised eighteen-month high of 7.3% in the previous month, and marking the slowest pace since January. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, output slipped 1.2% in November, after a revised 2.3% gain in October, which had marked a six-month high. Over the January-November 2025 period, construction activity expanded 4.8% compared with the same period in 2024.

Construction output in Italy rose 3.4% year-on-year in October 2025, the slowest pace since January, following an upwardly revised 5.0% increase in the previous month. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, output slipped 0.1% in October, after a revised 1.3% gain in the previous month. Cumulatively, construction activity expanded 4.5% over the first ten months of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024.
