Italy Construction Output Falls in March

Italy’s construction output declined 0.2% year-on-year in March 2026, following a downwardly revised 0.8% increase in the previous period.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction production fell 0.7% from February, marking the fifth consecutive monthly decline.

On average in the first quarter of 2026, construction output dropped 2.0% compared with the previous quarter, while production edged up 0.1% compared with the same period last year.

Over the February-to-April 2026 period, average construction output edged up by 0.4% compared with the previous quarter, while calendar-adjusted production climbed 1.6% from the same period a year earlier.

Italy’s construction output increased 1.4% year-on-year in February 2026, rebounding from a downwardly revised 0.4% fall in January. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, production decreased 0.5%, following a downwardly revised 1.1% drop in the prior month. Over the December 2025–February 2026 period, output fell by an average of 1.1% compared with the previous quarter.
