French Stocks Edge Higher

The CAC 40 edged 0.1% higher to close at 8,318 on Tuesday, supported by gains in industrial and energy stocks.
France’s exports rose 0.3% month over month to €54.7 billion in July, led by natural hydrocarbons, other extractive products and industrial goods.
Airbus gained 1%, Thales 0.5%, Air Liquide 1.4%, Schneider Electric 1.4%, Legrand 1.1% and EssilorLuxottica 0.7%.
TotalEnergies rose 0.6% as oil prices climbed amid escalating Middle East tensions.
Financials, however, declined after eurozone inflation accelerated to 3.3% in August, its highest level in nearly three years and above the ECB’s 2% target, boosting expectations of a 25-bp rate hike.
BNP Paribas fell 0.6%, AXA 1.1%, while Crédit Agricole and Société Générale lost 1% each.
Luxury stocks were mixed, with LVMH down 1.1% and Hermès 2.2%, while L’Oréal gained 0.9% and Kering 1.2%.
STMicroelectronics fell 3.5%, tracking losses among US hyperscalers.
