The CAC 40 rose 0.4% to 8,540 on Wednesday, snapping a six-session losing streak, even as sentiment remained cautious amid elevated oil prices and surging bond yields.
Oil prices stayed firm after President Donald Trump said no talks were underway with Iran while maintaining that the Strait of Hormuz remained open, keeping geopolitical risks in focus.
Meanwhile, France’s 10-year OAT yield recently climbed above 4.10%, its highest level since October 2008, as a global bond selloff intensified concerns over inflation and borrowing costs.
Among individual stocks, gains were led by L'Oréal (0.5%), TotalEnergies (1.3%), Saint-Gobain (1.2%), and Stellantis (1.9%).
Financial stocks underperformed, with Crédit Agricole falling 1.6%, Société Générale losing 1.1%, and BNP Paribas shedding 1%.
Elsewhere, STMicroelectronics declined 1.2%, tracking weakness in the global technology sector.
