French Stocks Hit Fresh Record High

The CAC 40 edged up 0.1% to 8,674 on Wednesday, setting a fresh record high as investors welcomed progress in US-Iran talks that improved the global risk backdrop.

Qatar said mediation efforts had reached an advanced stage, with a draft deal already prepared.

The US also expressed increasing confidence that an agreement could be finalized soon, raising hopes for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Domestically, industrial output rose 0.1% month-on-month in June, falling short of forecasts for a 0.3% increase but rebounding from a 0.1% decline in the previous month.

Industrial and cyclical stocks led the gains, with Airbus (0.9%), Safran (1.4%), Legrand (1.2%), and Stellantis (1.3%) among the top performers.

In contrast, luxury heavyweights weighed on the index, with LVMH (-1.1%), Hermès (-1.0%), and Kering (-0.4%) trading lower.

The CAC 40 Index is picking up 12 points or 0.14 percent on Wednesday. Gains are led by Carrefour (1.49%), Veolia (1.34%) and Safran (1.29%). Biggest losers are LVMH (-1.70%), Hermes International (-1.41%) and Orange (-0.91%).

The CAC 40 Index Closes 0.61% Higher
The CAC 40 Index rose 53 points or 0.61 percent on Tuesday to close at 8667 points. Leading the gains are STMicroelectronics (6.49%), ArcelorMittal (4.34%) and TP (3.54%). Top losers were Kering (-3.17%), TotalEnergies SE (-2.68%) and Pernod Ricard (-1.60%).
