The CAC 40 Index Closes 0.61% Higher

The CAC 40 Index rose 53 points or 0.61 percent on Tuesday to close at 8667 points. Leading the gains are STMicroelectronics (6.49%), ArcelorMittal (4.34%) and TP (3.54%). Top losers were Kering (-3.17%), TotalEnergies SE (-2.68%) and Pernod Ricard (-1.60%).

The CAC 40 rose 0.6% to close at a record 8,667 on Tuesday, extending its winning streak to a fourth session as easing pressure from the recent AI-driven selloff lifted global market sentiment. Lower oil prices also supported equities after US President Donald Trump canceled planned strikes on Iran to revive negotiations, easing concerns about inflation and the higher interest rates outlook. Industrial stocks led gains, with Airbus rising 2.9%, Safran adding 1.4%, and Thales advancing 3.4%. STMicroelectronics (+3.6%) and Schneider Electric (+3.1%) tracked the rally in US chipmakers. In contrast, TotalEnergies fell 2.8% as crude prices declined. On the data front, France's state budget deficit widened in January-June compared with the same period a year earlier.

Investors also looked ahead to a fresh round of corporate earnings and key economic data releases. In France, the state budget deficit widened to EUR 106.8 billion in January–June 2026 from EUR 100.4 billion in the same period a year earlier, with general budget revenues increasing 3.7% year-on-year to EUR 184.6 billion, while expenditures rose 5.4% to EUR 240.5 billion. Industrial and technology heavyweights led the advance, with shares of Schneider Electric up 2.9%, Airbus gaining 1.7%, Safran rising 1.3%, Thales adding 2.1%, and STMicroelectronics climbing 2.2%. In contrast, LVMH (-0.8%), L'Oréal (-1.2%), and TotalEnergies (-0.3%) underperformed the broader market.
