CAC 40 Rises on Strong Earnings

The CAC 40 rose 0.9% to close at 8,486 on Thursday, rebounding as investors welcomed another round of corporate earnings and guidance updates.

L'Oréal gained 2.7% after reporting higher sales and profit, with growth across all business divisions.

Schneider Electric surged 10.8% after posting record first-half results and raising its full-year sales and profit guidance, supported by strong AI-driven demand and margin expansion.

Société Générale advanced 5.7% after second-quarter results beat expectations, prompting the bank to raise its profitability target and announce a new share buyback program.

Vinci climbed 4.7% after reporting first-half earnings and free cash flow above forecasts.

In contrast, Sanofi slumped 8.9% after second-quarter net profit fell 91.3%, while Stellantis lost 4.3% as investors remained concerned about mounting competition from Chinese automakers and costly recalls in North America.

Saint-Gobain (+0.6%) is due to report earnings after the market close.
