The CAC 40 Index Closes 0.51% Higher

The CAC 40 Index rose 41 points or 0.51 percent on Friday to close at 8127 points. Leading the gains are STMicroelectronics (4.81%), ArcelorMittal (4.11%) and Stellantis NV (3.01%). Top losers were TotalEnergies SE (-2.37%), Danone (-1.59%) and Vinci (-1.14%).

The CAC 40 rose 0.4% to close at 8,116 on Friday, rebounding from the previous session as heavyweight industrial stocks led gains and investors assessed fresh domestic economic data. Airbus advanced 2.1%, while Safran gained 1.9%. Chipmaker STMicroelectronics also climbed 5.2%, extending momentum in the global tech sector after Nvidia reported stronger-than-expected first-quarter sales. On the economic front, France’s overall business climate index held steady at 94 in May, in line with expectations but still below its long-term average of 100. Weakness in services and retail offset stronger industrial confidence, highlighting continued pressure on domestic demand from the economic fallout of the Iran war. Meanwhile, the manufacturing business climate index rose to a four-month high of 102 from 100 in April.

The CAC 40 rose 0.6% to 8,134 on Friday, rebounding from the previous session as heavyweight luxury stocks led gains and investors assessed a fresh batch of domestic economic data. LVMH advanced 1.2%, Hermès added 0.5%, and Kering gained 0.8%, buoyed by stronger-than-expected full-year sales from peer Richemont. Chipmaker STMicroelectronics also climbed 3.7%, extending momentum in the global tech sector. On the domestic economic front, the overall business climate index held steady at 94 in May 2026, in line with expectations but still well below its long-term average of 100. Meanwhile, the manufacturing business climate index climbed to a four-month high of 102 in May, from 100 in April. For the week, the CAC 40 is set to post a solid gain, underpinned by hopes that the US and Iran could reach a peace agreement.
