French Producer Prices Rebound in July

French domestic producer prices rose 1.1% month-on-month in July 2026, rebounding from a revised 0.4% decline in June. Prices of manufactured products increased 0.7%, following a 0.6% drop in the previous month, largely driven by a sharp rebound in prices of coke and refined petroleum products (+13.4% vs -12.0%) amid renewed geopolitical tensions and attacks on Russian refineries. Year-on-year, these prices have accelerated and remain very high (+50.5% vs +37.9%). Costs also increased for electrical and electronic equipment, computers, and machinery (+0.3% vs +0.3%), transport equipment (+0.4% vs 0%), and other manufactured products (+0.1% vs +0.2%), while food product prices fell 0.2% after rising 0.1%. Prices for mining and quarrying, energy, and water rose 2.9% after remaining unchanged in June. On an annual basis, domestic producer prices increased 3.4% in July, accelerating from a revised 2.8% rise in June, and marking the steepest gain since May 2023.

Prices of manufactured products dropped 0.6%, after rising 0.1% in the previous month, largely due to a sharper decline in prices of coke and refined petroleum products (-12.0% vs -7.3%) as global oil prices retreated during the month. Price growth also eased in the manufacture of food products, beverages, and tobacco (0.1% vs 0.2%), electrical and electronic equipment, computers, and machinery (0.2% vs 0.3%), and other manufactured products (0.2% vs 0.9%), while prices for transport equipment were unchanged. Prices for mining and quarrying, energy, and water continued to decline, although at a slower pace (-0.7% vs -1.0%). On an annual basis, domestic producer prices increased 2.6% in June, easing from a revised 3.1% rise May, which marked the highest level in three years.

French domestic producer prices fell 0.3% month-on-month in May 2026, following a revised 2.0% decline in April. Prices for mining, quarrying, energy, and water declined 1.2%, moderating from an 11.0% plunge in April as electricity prices fell at a slower pace (-2.7% vs. -22.4%) following April's seasonal decline. Meanwhile, manufactured goods prices were unchanged after a 1.0% increase in April. Prices for coke and refined petroleum products dropped 7.3%, reversing a 7.8% gain as global oil prices declined after easing from their March spike. Costs for other industrial products continued to rise (0.8%), driven by higher plastic product prices, while food prices edged up 0.2%, rebounding from a 0.2% decline. Costs for transport equipment were flat, while electronic and machinery equipment prices rose a modest 0.1%. On a yearly basis, producer prices rose 3.0% in May, accelerating from a 2.3% increase in April and marking the strongest increase since May 2023.
