TSX Plunges to 1-Month Low

The S&P/TSX Composite fell 1.6% to close at a one-month low of 29,778 on Tuesday, pressured by sharp losses among commodity producers after markets parsed BoC Governor Tiff Macklem’s hawkish comments.
Major miners led the slide with Barrick down 3.9%, dragging bullion names lower, while Teck Resources dropped 3.7% as gold and copper prices slid.
Canadian Natural Resources fell 1.5% as oil benchmarks eased.
Rate sensitive tech also underperformed.
Shopify tumbled 6.8% after third quarter results failed to satisfy investors despite stronger revenue and higher gross merchandise volume.
Constellation Software lost 5% amid renewed hawkish bets following Macklem’s signal that rates may be at their lower bound for now and a pause in the US tech rally.
Thomson Reuters fell 3.8% even after reporting higher third quarter revenue and reaffirming full year 2025 guidance.
