Australia's exports grew 3.7% month-on-month to a 41-month high of AUD 47.43 billion in August, rebounding from a revised 3.6% fall in July, primarily boosted by higher exports of non-monetary gold and coal, coke, and briquettes.
Exports of non-monetary gold jumped 20.2% month-on-month to AUD 6.43 billion due to a rise in global gold prices.
Non-rural goods shipments increased 2.0% month-on-month to AUD 34.56 billion, mainly due to higher exports of coal, coke, and briquettes, which rose 4.7%.
The increase was also boosted by other mineral fuels (2.8%), metals (11.0%), machinery (0.5%), and other manufactures (0.8%).
By contrast, rural exports fell 1.0% month-on-month to AUD 6.38 billion, weighed down by exports of meat and meat preparations (-2.1%) and cereal grains and cereal preparations (-4.3%).
