Construction output in Switzerland dropped 1.4 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2017, following a 0.8 percent growth in the previous period. Civil engineering fell 2.1 percent after rising by 3.3 percent in the fourth quarter; and specialised construction activities declined by 2.7 percent, compared with a 0.1 percent gain in the previous period. By contrast, building construction grew 4 percent, faster than a 2.6 percent expansion in the fourth quarter. Construction Output in Switzerland averaged 1.05 percent from 2000 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 8.90 percent in the fourth quarter of 2005 and a record low of -7.90 percent in the fourth quarter of 2001.
