Italy Jobless Rate at 3-Month High

The unemployment rate in Italy inched up to 6.1% in September 2025 from 6% in each of the previous two months, matching market expectations.
This was the highest jobless rate since June, as the number of unemployed individuals increased by 31 thousand from a month earlier to 1.582 million.
At the same time, the employment rate edged higher to 62.7% from 62.5%, with the number of employed persons rising by 67 thousand to a record 24.22 million.
The labor force participation rate also went up to 66.9% from 66.7%.
The youth unemployment rate, measuring job-seekers between 15 and 24 years old, rose to a four-month high of 20.6% in September from 19.7% in August.
