Milan’s FTSE MIB fell 1% to around 49,300 on Monday, moving back toward a four-month low touched earlier this month, mirroring declines across regional peers amid escalating protests across the bloc.

Large-scale protests in France, alongside unrest in major cities across Belgium, Italy, and Portugal, weighed on investor sentiment.

Geopolitical risks also remained in focus as Moscow and Kyiv continued strikes on energy infrastructure in Eastern Europe.

Most blue-chip stocks traded lower, led by Stellantis (-3.35%), Banco BPM (-1.85%), UniCredit (-1.48%), and Leonardo (-1.54%).

Meanwhile, IREN Chairman Luca Dal Fabbro called for further consolidation in the utilities sector in an interview published on Monday.

Among utilities, Enel fell 0.62%, Snam lost 0.33%, Terna declined 0.27%, Italgas dropped 0.47%, A2A edged up 0.21%, and Hera slid 1.30%.
