FTSE MIB Climbs to 26-Year High
The FTSE MIB climbed toward the 50,000 mark on Monday, reaching its highest level since early 2000, as expectations of a US–Iran agreement boosted market sentiment. This followed President Trump’s comments that talks were progressing constructively, along with his indication that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz was largely agreed and could be announced soon, although the US blockade would remain in place until negotiations are finalized. The development pushed oil prices lower, easing some inflation concerns. Among early gainers were UniCredit (+2.5%), Intesa Sanpaolo (+1.8%), Enel (+1.0%), Ferrari (+1.8%), Stellantis (+2.2%), and Prysmian (+1.5%). Nexi also rose more than 3% after CDP Equity said it intends to increase its stake in the payments group to as much as 29.9%, reinforcing its position in a sector viewed as strategically important.
