The FTSE MIB hovered around 44,360 in early trading on Tuesday, as investors awaited key central bank policy decisions while also monitoring developments in the Middle East.
The Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank are expected to keep interest rates unchanged at their meetings this week.
Meanwhile, investors remained on edge as Iran intensified strikes on oil infrastructure across the region, while several countries rejected President Trump’s call to escort tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.
Gains were led by Enel (+1.1%), Eni (+1.6%), Tenaris (+1.3%), A2A (+2.0%), Stellantis (+1.6%), and Hera (+1.4%).
However, these advances were partially offset by losses in UniCredit (-1.2%), Leonardo (-1.7%), Prysmian (-1.4%), STMicroelectronics (-1.1%), Interpump Group (-1.9%), ERG (-1.9%), and Amplifon (-3.4%).
