Italy Construction Output Falls to Over 1-Year Low

Italy’s construction output fell 1.2% year-on-year in July 2026, following a 0.6% increase in the previous month and marking the first contraction in six months and the lowest reading since December 2024.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction output declined by 1.4%, easing from a 2.1% drop in June.

On average, construction production decreased 0.8% in the May-to-July period from the previous three-month period.

In the first seven months of 2026, calendar-adjusted construction output rose 1.3%.

Italy’s construction output rose 2.9% year-on-year in May 2026, easing from an upwardly revised 3.2% increase in the previous period. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction output was unchanged, interrupting the growth recorded in the previous two months (+1.9% in March and +0.8% in April). On average, over the March-to-May period, construction production increased 2.0% from the previous three-month period. In the first five months of 2026, calendar-adjusted construction output rose 2.0%.

Italy Construction Output Growth Eases in April
Italy’s construction output rose 2.7% year-on-year in April 2026, easing from a revised 3.0% in the previous period. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction production increased by 0.3%, slowing from a revised 1.9% growth in March. Over the February-to-April 2026 period, average construction output edged up by 0.4% compared with the previous quarter, while calendar-adjusted production climbed 1.6% from the same period a year earlier.
