The CAC 40 rose 0.9% to 7,954 on Thursday, hitting its highest level in nearly two weeks as investors awaited the European Central Bank’s monetary policy decision later in the day.
The central bank is widely expected to leave interest rates unchanged following its 25 bps hike in September, while investors look for guidance on the policy outlook.
Attention is also focused on President Christine Lagarde’s comments on France’s bond market turmoil, as the country faces mounting pressure in debt markets.
Meanwhile, investors welcomed a fresh batch of corporate earnings.
Renault climbed nearly 4% after reporting resilient Q3 revenue, driven by a surge in electric vehicle sales.
TotalEnergies also gained 0.9% after beating Q3 earnings expectations, supported by higher oil prices as the war in the Middle East continued to disrupt energy markets.
In contrast, STMicroelectronics fell 1.2%, tracking broader weakness across the technology sector.
