The CAC 40 Index Closes 0.24% Higher

The CAC 40 Index went up by 19 points or 0.24 percent on Monday to close at 7822 points. The rise was led by Hermes International (2.32%), Dassault Systemes (1.93%) and Publicis (1.91%). On the downside, the weakerst performers were STMicroelectronics (-2.37%), Stellantis NV (-1.31%) and Orange (-1.01%).

The CAC 40 rose 0.6% to 7,864 on Monday, recovering from losses in the previous week following US President Donald Trump’s remarks on an “energy ceasefire.” Oil prices fell after Trump said Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an immediate ceasefire targeting energy infrastructure, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv supports the truce but is “awaiting details.” However, lingering concerns over escalating tensions in the Middle East continued to temper risk appetite after a deadly attack on Riyadh’s airport prompted Trump to consider joining Saudi Arabia in retaliatory action against Houthi militants in Yemen. On the corporate front, LVMH rose 0.9% ahead of its quarterly earnings report, while Hermès and Kering each gained 1.6%. Financial stocks also advanced, led by Société Générale (1.6%) and BNP Paribas (1%).

The CAC 40 Index is gaining 27 points or 0.35 percent on Monday. Leading the gains are Renault (3.32%), Stellantis NV (2.63%) and Hermes International (1.95%). Top losers are Accor (-1.43%), STMicroelectronics (-0.78%) and ArcelorMittal (-0.56%).
